April 10th, 2017- IT'S ALWAYS FUN WHEN GRANDPA COMES

This week has been phenomenal my wonderisticaculartastic friends and family!

This morning we did some spring cleaning and had all the windows open and enjoyed the beautiful warmth! We see the most beautiful blue blue-jays and vibrant red cardinals in our backyard everyday now.
It was especially delightful yesterday with a cool breeze with some warm sun. We walked through the whole town of Sarnia yesterday and I got some blisters, which was a nice experience haha. I actually forgot to mention that I sprained my thumb or something the other week so that's hurt a lot. You never really know how much you use your right thumb until it doesn't stop complaining to you about being overworked. Then yesterday I seem to have gotten a weird spider or insect bite of some kind on the ridge of my nose right next to my right eyelid so when I woke up this morning my eye was starting to swell closed but I put some stuff on it and we're all good now, so no worries! Just wanted everyone to know I almost fell apart but I'm good to go haha.
Another random fact... Our microwave is in French so that's hard to read sometimes. We make it work.
Next random thing is that my companion has decided that I'm his grandpa. Yup. He apparently thinks I do and wear things like a grandpa so he just calls me his grandpa all day every day and it's pretty darn funny if you ask me. We have so much fun knocking doors, talking to people, and working on farms all day every day out here in Sarnia.
One time we were knocking a door this week and a 12 or so year old kid answered and he was playing with a Rubik's cube and I said to him, "hey, can I play with that?" and he responded hesitantly with a "sure, if you want" obviously confused. And then I solved his Rubik's cube, because you know, I can do that, and needless to say I blew this kid's mind. He said we could come back and teach him sometime and we can teach him the Rubik's cube to so there ya go. You never know what skills you may need to find investigators haha.
Anyway, I hope everyone is excited for Easter! Watch the #PrinceofPeace video and learn the principles of peace! Our Savior is the key source to turn to for peace.
Love,
Elder Callor

April 3, 2017- HANG IN THERE, GEORGE PARTII & SARNIA SPECIAL

Dear Friends and Family,
This week seemed to exist in a strange sort of proverbial slime that simultaneously speeds things up with its slippery goo, slows all of time down with its gelatinous muck, and distorts my view of the outside world back home like a fun-house mirror. What I mean by that strange analogy is that this week felt like it went by really quickly, really slowly, and that my life and world back home seem to be getting farther and farther away physically and in memory. BUT! Elder Callor isn't set back by such minor  obstacles, no-sir-ee he isn't! I had a really fun week.
To start my crazy spiral into the weekdays, last P-day we went to London and had a BBQ. It was an especially good day for me because I got to spend the day with my trainer Elder Layton and just laugh and joke and reminisce. The best, (or worst depending on how you look at it) part is that he and I ended up having a pie eating contest in front of the whole zone. It was a spur of the moment sort of thing, because we were both just really excited to eat some strawberry rhubarb pie, but then someone brought out the pumpkin pie and the potential for watching two Elders miserably scarfing down some perfectly good pie was just too tempting for the ravenous crowd... So Elder Layton and I complied. Unfortunately I was given the strawberry rhubarb pie and he had the pumpkin pie. This is unfortunate because a) I didn't get to really taste or enjoy one of my favorite types of pie, and b) the solidity of the pie made it much more difficult to eat with no hands up to speed with Elder Layton who had the pumpkin pie. Needless to say I did not win, and I was full of pie I didn't get to enjoy. Nevertheless, we were both heroes for a few brief moments for our willingness to do ridiculous things to our stomachs for other peoples entertainment. I don't have a video of the event on my camera, but hopefully I can get a video from someone else who captured it digitially and then you can all see the horror and majesty of the event.
Secondly I got a version of Shall We Gather At the River by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from my companion, and I listened to it and really enjoyed looking back on some great memories from Tom Sawyer. Shout out to all who helped make that show happen. It was a really fun time and a fond memory of mine.
Next in line is THE SARNIA SPECIAL. I will have attached a video to explain this magical food. But to put it plainly and simply:
Bread. Peanut Butter. Jelly. Mayonnaise.
That's right. You read correctly. A High Priest in our ward who owns a leather-crafting shop told us about this strange food and I was skeptical at first. I tried it once, and I just wasn't sure if I'd like it at all. Then I tried it again.... just to make sure I didn't like it. The next time I had a sandwich, I just couldn't leave the mayo out, I mean, it was just so intriguing. Next thing I new, I was bound to a sandwich I never wanted to love but couldn't escape from. It's sort of like a bad relationship but with bread and spreads. I challange all of you to try this concoction and attempt to keep yourself from trying it again. You'll be surprised.
Lastly, we help out on a farm pretty much every week and all this while I've been telling my dollar bill every morning, "Hang in there, George," but this week I've been saying that to a special little boar named George. He was born and disliked by his mother named Oreo, so he ended up with a twisted back. They had to put him in a pen with the other pigs, but they didn't want him to live either so they were eating all of his food. This week we moved him to a separate pen so we can help him start walking again, feed him well, and let him be a little happier. While they almost had to put him down, George has his own little home now, and he sure looks a lot bigger when he's not laying on his side! I hope to get some pictures of him this week. He's got some killer tusks!
Anyway, I'll talk to you all individually about conference, but just know I sure loved it and my companion and I got to watch all of it practically alone with the whole chapel to ourselves which was pretty fun. I learned a lot and I am grateful we get to hear from our inspired leaders as frequently and as conveniently as we do.

I send you all my best-
Elder Callor

Monday March 27, 2017- GIANT TIGER

Hello my dear friends,
This week, seemed really eventful, and flew by, but I don't have that much to say, really. It's rained quite a bit over here but been much warmer which is really nice.
As for worthwhile stories and events to mention, I have three...
NUMBER ONE:
Everyone in Sarnia thinks I look like either a) James Potter with red hair, or b) one of Harry Potter's children. I'm 100% sure it's because of my glasses and my haircut, but whatever. It was kind of spooky because we talked to some of the youth at church, and one of the young women said I looked like James Potter. Then the next day we had an appointment for dinner and they said I looked like Harry's son. Then the next day some more members commented on it. I don't know if everyone in Sarnia are Harry Potter fans or I just really look like fictional characters or what.
NUMBER TWO:
My companion and I went to Giant Tiger which is a Canada only bargain grocery store. It's super small and sells clothes and basic groceries and home items and it was just really silly to me because we were walking around inside and I felt like I was in some strange indie film about missionaries. The lighting felt like everything was through some film effect or filter or something, the music was really mellow and sounded like some strange singer/songwriter vibe, and the whole store is really looks like the kind of store you would see in a movie meant to look like other bargain stores but is fictional and JUST different enough to avoid copyright issues. I don't know if any of that made sense but it was a really funny moment for me haha.
NUMBER THREE:
We played floor hockey again last week, and I'm actually starting to pick it up! I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I do, but I've started to get the hang of it and I actually scored the winning goal so I felt pretty good about myself ha.
Anyway, those were my adventures for the week, and I'm really excited to hear more of all of yours! Remember Jesus Christ. Your relationship with Him, and through Him to our Heavenly Father is more important than nearly anything else. Prayer is a conversation, so speak naturally and listen. I know you'll all feel more guidance this week if you do. Along with some comfort, which I know is something we all could use a little more of these days.
Love,
Elder Callor
